The art and character design seems to be a step up from Testament, though it will be hard to match the quality of Testament’s story. We can’t say for sure if HxH will be more brazen with ecchi content than Testament was, but we can say for sure that HxH’s PV was more brazen than Testament’s. But in both the pre-PV from February and now the first official PV today, it’s abundantly clear that HxH is all about T ‘n A and wants everyone to know about it. Normally, even for the most ecchi of shows, the PV is usually a way of introducing people to the characters and giving a bit of a preview for the story and action. You could be forgiven for thinking season one of Shinmai Maou no Testament was just another shonen action series based on the PVs that were put out. What’s interesting about this is that typically even soft-porn ecchi shows tend to clean up their PV and try to look as mainstream as possible. Keep in mind that the pre-PV that released in February focused on the nip slip moments from the Light Novels, so today’s new PV is really just further confirmation that HxH aims to be a soft-porn anime. But in the case of HxH, the PV introduces us to the service and censorship levels. Normally an anime PV would introduce us to the story or characters. The most anticipated ecchi PV of 2016 is finally here.
